We are the longest running telemark ski festival in the country (32 years and going strong) and festive is a good word to describe our event. Some folks race, some launch big air, and others use the course as a stage for theatrical performance. After an adventuresome and creative day on the hill, skiers reconvene in the evening at our annual reception. At the Pinhead reception participants and non-participants enjoy live music, dinner, and locally brewed beer, followed with an awards ceremony, live auction and raffle. Unlike traditional ski events, our prizes go to people with the best costumes, the biggest airs, the best wrecks, etcetera. If you want to be rewarded for skiing fast, this is not the event for you…we don’t even have a timer!
This years theme is NASCAR, Tele-dega. So dig out your neon numbers, false teeth, and start growing your mullet...as this year is bound to be one to remember. This years reception is going to be big! Local bands The Kitchen Dwellers will be kicking off the evening with their high energy rocky mountain bluegrass, followed by Cure for the Common and their funky beats.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.pinheadclassic.com; in Bozeman at Cactus Records, Northern Lights, Summit Bike and Ski, and in Big Sky at Grizzly Outfitters.
Registration 8:45-10:30am in the Jim Bridger Lodge at Bridger Bowl.
No multi-skier costumes and your costume cannot interfere with the unction of the chairlift). Live auction at the dinner. Proceeds from the event supports the Friends of the Avalanche Center.
