Skin to Win Randonnee Rally

Skimo Event for Pros & Amateurs

Challenging ski mountaineering event for randonnee aficionados with two divisions. Pro Division climbs/skis approx 5,000 vertical feet and Rec Division approx 2,000 vertical feet.

  • Randonnee skiers
  • Must be 16 years or older to enter
  • Age categories: 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up
  • Limited to 100 (total) competitors
  • Circumnavigation of the Ridge terrain
  • Pro start at the base area, slope side of Jim Bridger Lodge
  • Rec start at top of upper terrain park
Entry Fee:
  • Pro Division – $50; $70 with lift ticket
  • Rec Division – $35; $55 with lift ticket
  • All entry fees include commemorative item and lunch at finish
Lift Ticket:
  • Valid Season Pass or Lift Ticket required for competitors
  • $20 prepaid discounted lift tickets for competitors handed out at check-in
  • Saturday, January 25, 5:30pm; Mandatory competitors meeting at The Beall Center (415 N Bozeman) – NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • 7:30am Race day check-in/safety inspection in Jim Bridger Lodge
  • 8:30am Race start for all competitors
  • 2pm Awards in Jim Bridger Lodge
  • The course is subject to change anytime prior to start of race. Significant snowfall Saturday evening or Sunday prior to event start may postpone start time.
Required Equipment:
  • 457kHz avalanche transceiver worn and operating for full duration of race
  • Skins for ascending – No snowshoes, booting is only allowed where specified, must secure skis/board while negotiating booting sections
  • Backpack
  • Skis with metal edges – 160cm minimum for men/150cm minimum for women OR split board with metal edges – 150cm minimum for men/140cm minimum for women
  • Skis and split boards must have adequate retention devices or brakes
  • Helmet is mandatory and must be worn and fastened at all times
  • Windbreaker or shell with a hood
  • 2pm in Jim Bridger Lodge
  • Cash prize to top three Pro finishers, Men & Women
  • Prizes to top three Rec finishers, Men & Women
  • Medals to top three male & female finishers in each age group
  • Fantastic door prizes – must participate and be present to win
  • Entry into grand prize drawing March 15
  • Pre-registration required by Thursday January 23, 4pm sign up online with a credit card or in the Marketing Office in the Jim Bridger Lodge with cash, check or credit card
  • No race day registration will be allowed
  • If under the age of 18, signature of a parent or legal guardian is required
  • One release per competitor
